The Challenge

REVOLT wanted to reimagine its annual REVOLT SUMMIT and transform it into the  global, immersive festival experience REVOLT WORLD. The goal was to first, create the ultimate platform for their headline-grabbing original programming, giving each show headliner status. 

Next, they wanted to complement those mainstage moments with iconic musical performances, compelling panels and a full festival experience guaranteed to keep social nad the ATL buzzing. 

And lastly, they had an audacious goal of increasing attendance from 3,000 total guests in 2022 to 10,000 daily in 2023.

REVOLT needed a production leader in the multicultural space to support the internal experiential team and manage production from end-to-end. Pop’N came on board to help drive the strategic vision collaboration across all departments and the roster of hired agencies and vendors.

The Approach

We helped  the REVOLT team streamline their internal processes optimizing on speed and budget efficiency by encouraging  REVOLT to Back Up, Build Up, and Level Up! 

  • We helped them Back Up by reviewing and then streamlining their internal processes.
  • We helped them Build Up by introducing pre-production procedures designed to enhance efficiency.
  • We helped  Level Up  REVOLT WORLD to be better than it’s ever been for both attendees and staff during and post-event! 

Pop’N leveraged this approach to enhance staffing, travel, marketing, programming, merchandising, and the project wrap-up workstreams.

The Marketing: We developed a new kickoff strategy, anchored in a grassroot strategy. We identified key ATL events that targeted similar audiences to build awareness for REVOLT WORLD, as the event was being rebranded from a summit to a festival. We chose Invest Fest 2023 as the tentpole of our grassroots strategy because  they had similar target audiences and the founders,  Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, had a podcast, Earn Your Leisure,  on the REVOLT Podcast Network.

We leveraged these events to sell merch and inform the audience about the new and improved festival coming in September. By selling merch before REVOLT WORLD, we had walking billboards promoting  the festival and powerful insights to inform future sales.

The Merch: Pop’N used sales data from our grassroots campaign to improve the merch strategy. We were able to more accurately forecast sales and optimize the buying strategy for the most popular items, increasing our overall sales revenue. 

The Travel: REVOLT needed to manage over 400 unique travel itineraries. We helped them evaluate, select and implement new travel booking software to help decrease costs and the craziness.  

The Staffing: REVOLT WORLD required a staffing team of almost 500 people and a team structure that would bring order and leadership to a chaotic day. We rebuilt REVOLT’s staffing grid, identifying key leaders and rebuilding a reporting structure to guide all comms and day-of operations.

The Preparation: To ensure that the next REVOLT WORLD will be bigger and better, Pop’N developed  the REVOLT WORLD 2024 Playbook. We analysed all feedback from staff and attendees, amassed all final event documents, and reconciled departmental budgets to prepare for next year’s event.

The Results

Our 483-person team produced over 88 hours of programming, 24 panels and masterclasses and 20 musical performances over 3 days, resulting in REVOLT’s biggest brand exposure ever. 

REVOLT’s mainstage moments, Caresha Please and The Jason Lee Show succeeded in helping drive headlines, thought-pieces and trending topics for days. Performances from artists/DJs, such as Saucy Santana and Uncle Waffles helped to drive brand awareness and exposure for the coveted Gen Z audience.

REVOLT WORLD delivered:

  • 4 billion media impressions
  • More than $27,000 in merch sales and
  • Over 10,000+ ticket sales and 30,000 attendees over the 3-day festival

REVOLT WORLD achieved its goal of transforming into an immersive festival experience, ushering in a new era for the REVOLT brand. The viral moments, hot conversations, and epic performances proved that REVOLT WORLD is THE premiere hip-hop event in Atlanta!
