MY BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL X CULTURECON EVENT POP-UP
EXPERIENTIAL DESIGN | FABRICATION | EVENT PRODUCTION & MANAGEMENT
The Challenge
My Black is Beautiful (MBIB), a premier multicultural hair care brand under P&G, wanted an opportunity to claim category exclusivity as the only hair care sponsor of CultureCon Los Angeles. MBIB tasked Pop’N to create a memorable guest experience, designed to leave a long-lasting impression, drive product trials, and generate significant social buzz.
The Approach
CultureCon was an ideal platform to connect with MBIB’s target audience.
Pop’N proposed using an upgraded modular booth complete with additional guest engagement experiences. The booth offered personalized screen-printed shirts showcasing MBIB branding, as well as celebrating Black neighborhoods and staples in LA. It also facilitated interactions with brand ambassadors to discuss hair products and receive samples.
In addition to the guest experience, P&G hosted its own panel, Behind the Lens: Black Women Fueling Authentic Storytelling, where they spotlighted Black women that have helped brands like MBIB tell stories in inclusive, authentic, and creative ways.
Panelists included: Emmy-nominated TV Host and Producer Kéla Walker, MBIB ambassador Folahan Amudipe, P&G VP of Sales Tomeka Williams, and Unbecoming producer Paige Bryant.
The Results
MBIB’s participation in CultureCon resulted in:
- 1,000 Co-packed Sample Bags Distributed
- 895 Screen Printed T-Shirts: The unique screen-printed t-shirts further cemented MBIB’s presence, serving as fashionable statements that resonated with attendees.
- Over 1200 Engaged Attendees: MBIB’s brand ambassadors effectively engaged with attendees, sparking conversations about hair care.
By participating in Culture Con, the brand’s presence and impact were felt among a diverse and engaged audience.
