The Challenge
In anticipation of Disney Jr.’s newest series, Ariel, Pop’N was challenged to produce a 3-day immersive celebration! This event focused on Disney’s goal of curating an authentic Afro-Caribbean experience that would bolster awareness of a reimagined classic and drive viewership of the show. Pop’N led the charge of replicating Ariel’s beloved Atlantica, introducing attendees to a whole new world vivified by Afro-Caribbean influence, music, magic, aquatic learnings and new loveable characters (yes, even Ursula).
The Approach
It was Pop’N’s goal to curate a celebration that drove interest and tune-in with new and existing fans. To do so, we transported the magical world of Atlantica to the iconic outdoors of Battery Park in New York!
Leaning into the grandiose architecture and vibrancy of the series, we seamlessly replicated (5) environments that were integral to the show. Anchoring this outdoor experience was our 18′ x 20′ Atlantica Stage, where attendees were able to enjoy the ultimate Caribbean dance party. Because Atlantica is known for daily new surprises, we made sure to fill the park with plenty of interactive elements. Attendees were able to concoct bubble magic at Tanti Ursula’s Apothecary. The magic continued with Ariel’s Mer-ling Makeover area, where attendees received airbrushed mermaid body art.
Flounder’s Treasure Hunt brought all of the thrills with an obstacle course of discovery. Inside of Ariel’s Palace Play area, attendees were able to interact with soon-to-be-released Ariel toys.
Of course, the celebration wouldn’t have been complete without our 22 ultimate Carnival Dance Parties! Each performance created an immersive and interactive dance experience that brought Ariel to life— from the Caribbean-inspired soundtrack to the USVI Carnival dancers to the grand finale featuring Ariel.
The Results
Word of Ariel swimming into town spread wide and fast! Pop’N welcomed 3000+ guests to the Ariel’s Seaside Celebration. Attendees were able to enjoy 1500+ carousel rides, 22 performances, and Ariel swag bags. The event garnered 95K press views amongst notable news outlets, including ABC7 and ABC30.
This was an immersive experience that highly motivated attendees to keep the party going by streaming the Ariel series from the comfort of their own homes.
